John Chapter Twenty. I'm with our hearts keenly on this particular task 78 00:07:12.060 --> 00:07:15.009 of believing that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and, 79 00:07:15.569 --> 00:07:19.170 as John says, that by believing we may have life in his name. 80 00:07:19.689 --> 00:07:25.730 That is John's goal, that is the Holy Spirit's goal, who inspired these 81 00:07:25.889 --> 00:07:30.680 words. Let that be our objective as well, to believe what is said 82 00:07:30.720 --> 00:07:38.079 here so that we may have life, resurrection, life in Christ. The 83 00:07:38.199 --> 00:07:41.480 first thing to know is that, as I said, this new order, 84 00:07:41.759 --> 00:07:45.189 this new age, is begun well, we have here on this first day 85 00:07:45.189 --> 00:07:48.870 of the week is is very much like we have when the very first day 86 00:07:49.350 --> 00:07:56.069 of all the world, the darkness is mentioned at the very beginning of this 87 00:07:56.269 --> 00:08:01.699 chapter, Mary Magdalen coming to the tomb while it was still dark. There 88 00:08:01.819 --> 00:08:07.139 is emptiness and with sin in the world there is now also deep sorrow and 89 00:08:07.420 --> 00:08:13.209 loss and fear and anger. When Mary comes to the tomb she sees that 90 00:08:13.370 --> 00:08:18.610 the the stone had been taken away. I'm John doesn't focus on this in 91 00:08:18.689 --> 00:08:22.490 the Gospel, in his Gospel, but in the other gospels we see, 92 00:08:22.050 --> 00:08:28.759 we are told that a great heavy stone was laid in front of the tomb 93 00:08:28.920 --> 00:08:33.519 so that it couldn't just be rolled away simply. It was sealed and in 94 00:08:33.679 --> 00:08:37.720 fact a seal was placed on it as well, so that if it were 95 00:08:37.799 --> 00:08:41.870 rolled away it would be it would be known. There were guards that were 96 00:08:41.909 --> 00:08:48.629 placed at the tomb to protect this from from the body disappearing from his disciples 97 00:08:48.750 --> 00:08:54.309 perhaps dealing it or something else happening. But when she comes there, she 98 00:08:54.549 --> 00:08:58.539 finds that the stone is gone, and this is a fearful thing. You can hear the panic in 102 00:09:11.529 --> 00:09:16.330 her voice. Notice how so, however, how she is still relating to 103 00:09:16.529 --> 00:09:22.090 Jesus, though she does not yet understand what has happened. She doesn't yet 104 00:09:22.129 --> 00:09:28.720 believe in the resurrection. She still is believing in the Lord, her Lord. 105 00:09:30.440 --> 00:09:35.799 She is there because she loves him and she is not deserted him. 106 00:09:35.799 --> 00:09:41.230 This amazing woman has come to still be with the Lord in a way, 107 00:09:41.350 --> 00:09:46.629 to somehow try to find in him, I'm solace. One possible reason is that he's wanting us to understand his 117 00:10:35.429 --> 00:10:41.429 testimony is true as well as Peters, that he was there, that he 118 00:10:41.629 --> 00:10:45.389 was seeing these things, that he witnessed these things, that he was in 119 00:10:45.509 --> 00:10:50.379 a way on par with Peter in his observations, in his presence. There 120 00:10:50.659 --> 00:10:56.779 another possibility that could be going on here is the author John is simply describing 121 00:10:56.860 --> 00:11:03.539 to us the confusion in the the the stress of the situation and, of 122 00:11:03.700 --> 00:11:05.929 course, the details of what they see. She uses this same word that she likely used day after day 167 00:15:13.480 --> 00:15:18.600 after day after day, this term that she referred to her Lord. And the pattern is this. Now it is happening. He says to them, peace be with you.
